Appearance[]

The Deinosuchus is an extinct genus of crocodilian with a large, broad snout with a rounded tip. Despite its harrowing size, the overall appearance of the Deinosuchus was not substantially different from that of modern crocodiles.

Real-Life/Scientific Information[]

The first remains were discovered in North Carolina (United States) in the 1850s; the genus was named and described in 1909. Additional fragments were discovered in the 1940s and were later incorporated into an influential, though inaccurate, skull reconstruction at the American Museum of Natural History. Knowledge of Deinosuchus remains incomplete, but better cranial material found in recent years has expanded scientific understanding of this massive predator.

Although Deinosuchus was far larger than any modern crocodile or alligator, with the largest adults measuring 10.6 m (35 ft) in total length, its overall appearance was fairly similar to its smaller relatives. It had large, robust teeth built for crushing, and its back was covered with thick hemispherical osteoderms. One study indicated Deinosuchus may have lived for up to 50 years, growing at a rate similar to that of modern crocodilians, but maintaining this growth over a much longer time.

Deinosuchus fossils have been described from 10 US states, including Texas, Montana, and many along the East Coast. Fossils have also been found in northern Mexico. It lived on both sides of the Western Interior Seaway, and was an opportunistic apex predator in the coastal regions of eastern North America. Deinosuchus reached its largest size in its western habitat, but the eastern populations were far more abundant. Opinion remains divided as to whether these two populations represent separate species. Deinosuchus was probably capable of killing and eating large dinosaurs. It may have also fed upon sea turtles, fish, and other aquatic and terrestrial prey.

Some estimates of Deinosuchus Hatcheri even put it at 15m in length and 14.8 tonnes in weight, however this is most probably an overestimate and perhaps instead reached an estimated weight of 10-12 tonnes.

In Game[]

The Deinosuchus is a large, very powerful playable creature in-game. It has four stages of growth, the first three stages remaining mostly the same, while the fourth is known as a Super Adult. In the Super Adult growth stage, Deinosuchus is arguably the, or one of the, strongest creature(s). It takes nearly 2 hours to grow. It is practically invincible when submerged, only threatened by other Deinosuchus'.

Strategies[]

Deinosuchus is quite easy to grow from juvenile to adult. It is quite fast despite how powerful the Deinosuchus is. As a juvenile, or baby, Deinosuchus, you should go to this place that leads out of the swamp as a stream-like body of water into the ocean. There, you will be in the ocean. Mostly there will not be any other dinosaurs there and you can eat lots of fish that spawn there until you grow, but Spinosaurus can still spawn there. Spinosaurus should be an easy kill for a baby Deinosuchus, ambush and attack from the tail and sprint and it should be dead soon.

Deinosuchus also has great underwater camouflage. You can hide out underwater and wait for dinosaurs to come. Juvenile Deinosuchus can quickly kill anything if it is skilled enough.

As an adolescent Deinosuchus, you can one-shot many juvenile dinosaurs, preferably Spinosaurus. You can hunt juveniles or look for fish. It is also capable of killing other adolescents, but be careful doing so.

As adult Deinosuchus, you are very powerful. Be careful because many favor being Deinosuchus and any Super Adult Deinosuchus could easily take you out. You might also want to be careful of Triceratops and other adults, as well.

Matchups ( Super - adult)[]

Mid Tier - Low tier = just bite them normally.

Tyrannosaurus = You can tank some hits from them just keep on biting till they walk away and drop dead

Spinosaurus = Go for the back but in the water you outcompete them in most cases.

Triceratops = Go for the back but you can tank head on with full health just be weary of bleed.

Diplodocus/Giraffatitan = Only killable in water, no place else.

Edmontosaurus = 50/50. Try not to get into a face tank with the Ed and instead try ranging them with your lunge bite (RMB) and make sure to use quick turn (Spacebar). However when doing so be weary of the lunge's endlag (you cannot immediately use LMB or RMB once using RMB), as you can easily be punished if you miss.

*Please note that these are subject to change with the new update, and that Deinosuchus may not be as strong as it currently it is.

Trivia[]

  • The Deinosuchus can drink saltwater and freshwater underwater automatically.
  • Like the Spinosaurus, the Deinosuchus is able to swim underwater and is semi-aquatic.
  • The Deinosuchus is available to buy for 1,500 robux.
  • Deinosuchus was the first playable to have 4 stages of growth.
  • Deinosuchus surprisingly has more HP than Edmontosaurus! This means that is has the most HP out of any non-sauropod dinosaurs in the game.
